Compass Accreditation

As part of Compass, Quantel is launching a complete Accredited Training system that will cover all Quantel operators and engineers.

What is Compass Accreditation?
Compass Accreditation in it simplest form is a indication that an operator’s or engineer’s knowledge, skills and experience meet a recognised standard or level.

Why are we Offering Accreditation?

  • To provide industry recognised Quantel trained operators and engineers we need to have a method of accrediting those who have received training and have proven ability.
  • To provide an method of improving the knowledge skills and abilities of operators and engineers in a controlled consistent way.
  • To give our existing and potential customers the reassurance that they will be able to find operators and engineers at an appropriate level to meet their needs.
  • To help generate training revenue as Accreditation will show that the training we offer is value for money.
  • To allow individuals (such as freelancers or staff operators) and organisations improve the Quantel Knowledge, skills and experience.
  • To provide a recognised, visible, method of developing customer’s staff skills to improve their productivity.

What are the Benefits?
  • Accreditation provides a tangible benefit to all operators, engineers and customer as it provides a bench mark. Accreditation requires time, effort and cost to attain and maintain so that it can be seen to be worth having.
  • We can have different levels of accreditation to match individual levels of ability and progress in their individual learning goals.
  • The modules required to gain operator accreditation can be taken as classroom or one-to-one training (in any order, at any time and at any location) to suit customers budgets and operator availability. For example the one-day editing module and the one-day effects modules can be taken in classroom sessions in one country and then iQ, eQ or Pablo specialisation short course can be taken in one to on sessions in another country.

What levels do we Offer?
The approach that we are adopting has an number of levels and will allow us to accredit operators as:
Accredited Associate Creative indicates that the person has had some experience with the Quantel interface (ie has covered some of the basic operation via web-based training, attended a Quantel training events and has passed a basic level assessment).

Accredited Creative indicates that the person operator has had training on the Quantel interface (ie participated in classroom sessions and has passed the corresponding practical assessments).

Accredited Professional Creative indicates that the operator can actually drive Quantel equipment. This should be the minimum level that operators should have to use Quantel equipment.

Accredited Expert Creative indicates that the operator or engineer has reached a significantly higher level than Professional by taking further expert level course modules and assessments.

and for engineers:
Accredited Associate Engineer indicates that the engineer has had gained a grounding in basic IT, video and film skills relevant to Quantel ownership. It ensures that engineering staff have a thorough technical grounding in these Quantel-related area, whatever their previous background.

Accredited Professional Engineer indicates that the engineer can actually maintain Quantel equipment. This should be the minimum level that engineers should have to maintain Quantel equipment.

Accredited Expert Engineer indicates that the engineer has reached a significantly higher level than Professional by taking further expert level course modules and assessments.
There are both set training courses, that will give 'Professional' Accreditation, as well as individual course modules that can be taken to achieved the desired accreditation level.

How long will Compass Accreditation be valid?
For operators, accreditation is valid only for the current software version (for example Accredited Professional Level for V3) When a new version (eg V3 to V4) is released, new training will be required to reach accreditation at the new software level. Upgrade courses will be available to allow operators to maintain a current level of accreditation.

For engineers, accreditation is valid for 2 years, at which time they will need refresher training and be re-assessed. Refresher trainng courses and assessment will be available to allow engineers to maintain their current level of accreditation.

How can people develop their skills?
Organisations can develop the knowledge, skills and experience of the operators and engineers by creating a Individual Development Plans for their staff that suits their current and future needs in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

Individuals (such as freelancers, staff operators, media students, etc) can decide their own Individual Development Plan, taking modules when and where it is convenient to them.
